My name is Marshall. My life has always been driven by a passion to express the emotions I receive from nature in beautiful forms. I was born in Lancashire, England in 1945 and taught myself oil painting, woodworking, stonemasonry and leatherwork at an early age. I then ran a small studio in the beautiful Orkney Islands in Scotland, where I valued my connection to nature. I specialize in original landscape paintings on large canvases, and have been fortunate to have my work sought after and loved not only in the UK, but also in America, South Africa and Europe.
It may seem like a dream, but in my long journey in pursuit of beauty, I have seen and heard countless times about Japanese culture, the aesthetics of tools and vessels, and the delicate and sensitive coexistence with nature, and each time I was deeply moved and touched by it.
After that, I had the opportunity to move to Japan. Inspired by Japan's beautiful landscapes, I continue to paint oil paintings and create works using Japan's wonderful wood and stone. Following on from last year's popularity, I will be holding another exhibition at the Fuchu Art Museum and Tokyo Civic Gallery. It would be wonderful to be able to share the trajectory of my creative journey with all of you who come to see it.
